Default Pve build advice

Just want a view on my build at the moment im a lvl 12 Ranger/Necromancer. from necromancer tree i only really use well of blood. I was wondering if there was better use of necromancer or indeed a secondary profession that will do me better than necromancer.

Default Touch ranger

If you want to combine the skills of both the Touch Ranger is great give it a try. Go to pvxwiki.com for the builds if ya fancy it!

For general use, /Mo - for [skill=text]Mending Touch[/skill], hex removals or a hard res, /Rt - for weapon spells to boost damage or a better hard res, or /Me - for [skill=text]Epidemic[/skill] to spread conditions; are generally better choices.

We can't really critique your build when all you tell us about it is that it has well of blood.

Can you give us your current full skillbar and tell us where you are in what campaigns so that we may know which skills you have access to?
Also tell us which campaigns you own.

if you like running barrage i'd suggest ritualist or maybe mesmer

For most of the other builds id take monk.

You can always change profession though, tell us what you want to do with you're build and we'll help you

i'd say grenths balance and touch rangering is quite fun

[skill]Wallow's Bite[/skill][skill]Vampiric Touch[/skill][skill]Vampiric Bite[/skill][skill]Offering of Blood[/skill][skill]Dwarven Stability[/skill]
[skill]Dodge[/skill][skill]Summon Ruby Djinn[/skill][skill]Pain Inverter[/skill][skill]Resurrection Signet[/skill]

Touch Rangers are not good for starting out players. all you do for touch rangers is press 1,2,1,2,1,2,1,2,1,2 "no energy" 3 1,2,1,2,1,2,1,2,1,2 and i think this is a BAD way to start out. Starting out with builds like the touch ranger build will not teach skill as a over all player, what it will teach, is just pressing keys in algorithm.

a better secondary profession for ranger is r/mo for both pve and pvp, a better build for starting players will be something like this

[skill]Distracting Shot[/skill][skill]Savage Shot[/skill][skill]Apply Poison[/skill][skill]Troll Unguent[/skill]

this way you can start working on your interupt skills. IMHO rangers are best as hard interupters.

soon as you get elites [skill]Burning Arrow[/skill] is a good start. this skill in the build i posted will give a good mix of DPS + hard interupts

This guy's level 12. He doesn't have enough attributes to run a touch ranger...I'd stick with basic bow builds.

I have made it to lvl 15 and kept the same build for now,

Screaming Shot, Kindle Arrows, Whirling Defense, Arcing Shot, Power Shot, Charm Animal, Well of blood

I only have Nightfall, and in the campaign i have just done the trial.

I would drop charm animal, pets really just aren't that useful unless you really specialize in them, to the detriment of everything else.

Consider dropping kindle arrows for [skill]Apply Poison[/skill]. Apply poison is basically the best sustained damage over time you can get. Poison does 8 damage per second, so assumeing you can fire 1 shot off at each of 4 enemies you are doing 32 damage per second which easily outclasses kindle arrows. You can get Apply Poison when you get to yohlon haven (which is on the mainland) or get it early by unlocking it with pvp faction and then buying it from any nightfall trainer

While its not that important at low levels, I would suggest you put [skill]Distracting Shot[/skill][skill]Savage Shot[/skill] on your bar, in place of charm animal and well of blood. This lets you get some practice interrupting key skills, as thats one of the most powerful uses of rangers at higher levels and harder areas. Distracting shot can be gotten at the jokanur diggings, but savage shot can't be gotten until much later in the game so again, you might want to unlock it through a little bit of pvp faction.

As for elites, you will probably want to cap [skill]Barrage[/skill] and [skill]Burning Arrow[/skill] as soon as you get off istan. Both are pretty good elites that can be gotten soon after you get to the mainland. Make sure to cap Barrage during the quest "The Great Escape" because its only available during that quest.
